"New Beginnings" made its first public appearance in March 2010, on the Harper Collins website, Authonomy
The idea behind Authonomy is that authors share their work - fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc - and their peers are invited to offer comments, advice, and constructive criticism. If a book is deemed worthy of the attention of the editors, then it is 'backed' and will slowly climb the ranks towards the Editors' Desk. At the end of each month, the top five books are scrutinised by the Harper Collins editors and if the editors like a book, then a publishing contract will be offered.
I made the decision in February 2012 to remove the extract of "New Beginnings" on Authonomy, as it had been obvious for several months that I no longer had time to participate in the community. Unfortunately, this also removed the 182 comments and all the data regarding support received for the book. Lesson learned!

Night Reading invited authors to submit their first chapters. Every month, authors on the site voted for the top ten, and the #1 book of the month was automatically published by Night Publishing.
My first chapter was amongst titles selected for July's poll in 2010, and it won! As a result, I was given a publishing contract, and "New Beginnings" was published in paperback.
In May 2012, Night Reading and Night Publishing underwent some management changes. The Night Reading site was closed, and my publisher started two new publishing companies - That Right and Taylor Street. I was not offered a revised contract and that version of "New Beginnings" is no longer available.
